From my blog about Embrace! Embrace! and the opening the days in Växjö, September 14, 15 and 16, 2011. We had a fantastic time in Sweden and in Växjö. The opening, which began with a parade from the library to the House of Emigrants was a success! The House of Emigrants did not have space for everyone wishing to attend. Quite a turn out to see the art exhibition, to show support for the concept for Embrace! and support the exhibition organizers Erica Månsson, Kultur Parken AB, Småland and the co-curators Lixuan An and Pia Sjölin. A huge number of people living in Växjö are involved in Embrace!, not least because of the flag, created at seven schools in Växjö. With families and friends the figure of all persons involved is higher than the 800 - 900 attending the day of the opening. Read my blog about Embrace here! Stefan Umærus |
About
Embrace! Embrace! is our shared dream for the future. It is our dream to live in harmony regardless of origin, religion, cultural background or political beliefs. Embrace! stands for humanism, empathy, tolerance, acceptance and love. Everyone can participate, not only as a spectator, but by being actively involved in workshops, debates, and the collaboration of many different people, cultures, and ways of life, through various Embrace! venues. The exhibition opens in the House of Emigrants September 14, 2011 through the end of January 2012. In addition to the art exhibition Embrace! will offer events including: language cafes, fashion shows, music and film screenings. Embrace! is an initiative of the Kulturparken AB, Småland. A number of other organizations are involved, including the County Council Kronoberg, the Linnaeus University, the Savings Bank Foundation in Sweden, the Regional Council of Southern Småland, the U.S. Embassy, and the Municipality of Växjö.
